6th Annual Buddy Walk® is Oct. 6 at Sam Houston Park The Panhandle Down Syndrome Guild will host its 6th annual Buddy Walk® at Sam Houston Park on Saturday, October 6. Registration is at 9 AM and the Walk begins at 10 AM. The fun lasts until 1 PM. The Buddy Walk® is an advocacy walk/party to celebrate October, National Down Syndrome Awareness Month. The primary goals of the Buddy Walk® are to celebrate the lives of people with Down syndrome, promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome, and to raise funds for education, research and outreach programs. In addition to fantastic live DJ entertainment, people who attend will be treated to food, games, prizes, face painting, a petting zoo, and bouncers for children of all ages. The Buddy Walk even has a high flying, extreme jumping machine for the brave. This is a family friendly event and the Panhandle Down Syndrome Guild encourages everyone to attend. The Buddy Walk® is free to the public, although donations are always accepted. Those who raise money are eligible for commemorative tee shirts and other prizes.
